The Alcus¡¯ have already made a significant impact on the lives of students at Montgomery College through their support of the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) program. In addition, Mary Pat Alcus has been a long-time member of the Montgomery College Foundation¡¯s Board of Directors, where she now holds the role of chair.
Understanding the time demands student-athletes face, the Alcus¡¯ scholarship covers the cost of tuition as well as providing them with a stipend. ¡°For our student-athletes, working while taking classes, training, and competing simply isn¡¯t an option,¡± said Mary Pat Alcus.
The Alcus¡¯ decision to establish a scholarship specifically for student-athletes demonstrates their unwavering commitment to supporting the academic and athletic success of Montgomery College students.
¡°We are incredibly grateful to Mary Pat and Darren Alcus for their extraordinary support of our student-athletes,¡± said Dr. Jermaine F. Williams, president of Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç. ¡°Empowering students with athletic passions to achieve their academic goals simultaneously is a life-changing investment. The Alcus¡¯ commitment shows how deeply they understand the role of athletics in forming academic communities that propel student achievement.¡±
