Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç Foundation Receives Grant to Support STEM Education from PhRMA

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) today announced an educational grant of $2,500 for the Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç Foundation to support the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs offered to Montgomery Ë«Ó®ÓéÀֳǡ¯s young people. The College and PhRMA were joined by Delegate Bonnie Cullison, at an event in the state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus.
Following the announcement, the representatives had the opportunity to observe the College¡¯s Healthcare Heroes Camp and tour the building.
¡°STEM camps offered over the summer to middle and high school students across the county are designed to develop passions or increase interest in STEM programs," said Dr. Sanjay Rai, Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç senior vice president for Academic Affairs. "These programs are vital to building a homegrown talent pipeline. These scholarships provide additional benefits to our middle and high school students and will help more students participate each summer."
PhRMA and Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç partnered to bring this vital funding to local students. The Foundation will utilize the grant for several scholarships for young Montgomery Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç residents to attend one of the many STEM camps the College offers throughout the summer.

It¡¯s a growing sector that will ensure that our health care professionals have the tools they need to treat and cure devastating illnesses,¡± said Montgomery Ë«Ó®ÓéÀÖ³Ç Delegate Cullison.
